The aircraft is the 12th A220 delivered to Delta since the carrier received its first of the type in October 2018. The Atlanta-based airline is the first US carrier to operate the A220 and is the largest customer for the aircraft, with 90 ordered.
The A220 is made in Canada at what was Bombardier's CSeries assembly plant in Mirabel. Airbus assumed control of the CSeries last year, renaming it the Airbus A220.
Airbus delivered its first aircraft, an A300 to Air France, in 1974, and its 6,000th aircraft in 2010. Airbus reached the 12,000th delivery just nine years later.
United Airlines is adding Hilton Head, South Carolina, to its route map as part of a new round of domestic expansion for the Chicago-based carrier.
United will begin flying to Hilton Head, adding seasonal service to the South Carolina resort destination from its hubs at Chicago O’Hare, Newark (New Jersey) Liberty and Washington Dulles. Schedules will vary from Saturday-only service from Newark to twice-daily service from Washington Dulles.
United will be just the second airline to fly from the Hilton Head airport. American already offers American Eagle regional service to its second-busiest hub in Charlotte, North Carolina
Qatar Airways, a major part of the Oneworld alliance, may be on the verge of leaving if it doesn’t see change.
In remarks late last week, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker suggested that current alliance members weren’t playing fair with the Middle Eastern carrier. American and Qantas, he pointed out, have been in favor of ending Qatar’s open skies agreement with the U.S. despite initially welcoming the carrier into Oneworld.
Delta says it will introduce the A220-100 on flights from LaGuardia to Boston and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) on 31 January 2019. The aircraft will be configured with 109 seats, comprising 12 in first class, 15 in extra-legroom economy and 82 in economy.
Delta will expand its A220 network to include the route from Detroit to DFWin March; LaGuardia to Houston Intercontinental in April; Salt Lake City to DFW in May; Minneapolis/St Paul to DFW in June; Detroit, Minneapolis/St Paul and Salt Lake City to Houston in July; and New York JFK to DFW in August.
Amazon Air??? Yes, Miami International Airport is now part of Amazon Air’s (Prime Air) cargo flight operations. The company has launched double-daily freighter service at MIA to destinations across the U.S. The new cargo service is being operated by Atlas Air Worldwide with Boeing 767-300F aircraft, and includes an onsite facility to sort packages bound for their next destination.

Air Niugini flight 73 had to be rescue from the water after trying to land during a stop over on its way to Papua New Guinea. The 737-800 went under water but the 36 passengers and 11 crew were safe according to local media. The incident is being investigated by PNG authorities.

A Chinese man thought it was a good idea just to do that on board a Lucky Air Flight at Nanjiao Airport, southwest China. The 25 year old claimed he had"waited in the aisle for 10 minutes as passengers left the plane" and that the cabin was "too stuffy and too hot". He was fined around 70,000 Yuan (10,000 Dollars) for this little incident.

A Delta Airlines plane flying from Shanghai to Seattle made an emergency landing in the Japanese capital on Sunday for an equipment check, a Delta customer service representative said.
Delta Flight 588, a Boeing 767-300ER, landed at Narita, she said, without elaborating on the checks or giving further details.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced a non stop service for next summer 2019 from Amsterdam to Las Vegas. The direct flight will operate three times a week using their beautiful 787-9 Dreamliner.
